According to Foreign trade (Development and regulation) Act, 1992 person engaged in business of export and Import of goods or services is required to take Import and Export Code registration. Import Export Code is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India.
Earlier IEC Code used to be unique 10 digit code issued by DGFT – Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India to Indian Companies however after introduction of GST and as a measure to ease of doing business in India it was decided to keep the identity uniform across department hence DGFT has decided to allot PAN of an entity as IEC code number.

Applying for IEC registration
Once necessary documents are collected our team will file form for IEC registration
IEC registration certificate
After IEC application has been filled along with necessary documents its shall be verified by DGFT department officer and if everything in order department will issue IEC certificate
PAN card of applicant
IEC number is linked with PAN card of entuty and hence same is required
Business registration documents

Cancelled cheque or bank statement of applicant
Cancelled cheque or bank statement of entity is also required as a proof of his bank account.
